Tomorrow, February 27th 2010, is Nuit Blanche in Montreal.  This year it is coming to Griffintown, There are plenty of things to do at the City Gas Works building and the Darling Foundry!  Learn about the history of the neighbourhood, go on a walking tour, participate in a “silent disco”, music, film, art installations, and plenty more! The February Sud-Ouest Arrondissement/Borough council meeting will be on February 2nd, 2010.  A group of citizens from Pointe-St-Charles is expected to ask several questions about the CN Yards project in the Pointe.  For those who live in the Pointe who want to go to with others to the council meeting, the meeting place is at Charlevoix Metro station at 18:15 on Tuesday.

Citizens who want to ask our borough/arrondissement councillors and staff questions, it is best to arrive before 7 pm to register your question.

  • Date: Tuesday, February 2nd.  19:00
  • Location: 815 rue Bel-Air, near Lionel-Groulx metro station.

January 12, 2010 will mark the second Sud-Ouest borough/arrondissement council meeting of the new council. Last month’s meeting was a full house, with many questions from citizens.  There was a general mood of optimism from the elected officials and citizens.  Let’s hope this optimism continues, and progress put into action.   If you would like to ask our elected representatives questions, you may sign up between 18:15 to 19:00.

December 1st, 2009, will be the first meeting of the new Sud-Ouest Arrondissement council. Benoit Dorais (Borough Mayor), Véronique Fournier (St-Henri, Little-Burgundy, Pt-St-Charles City Councillor), Sophie Thiébault (St-Henri, Little-Burgundy, Pt-St-Charles Borough Councillor), Daniel Bélanger (Ville-Émard and Côte-St-Paul City Councillor), and Hugette Roy (Ville-Émard and Côte-St-Paul Borough Councillor), are your new Borough Council members. Here’s hoping for a more effective council than the previous one!

When: Tuesday, December 1st, 2009.
Where: 815, rue Bel-Air, 2nd Floor, St-Henri
Time: 7:00 PM. If you want to ask questions to the new council, you need to register at least 15 minutes in advance.

Véronique Fournier. Vision Montréal (155 vote advantage)

Borough Councillor District Saint-Henri—Petite-Bourgogne—Pointe-Saint-Charles
Sophie Thiébaut. Projet Montréal (236 vote advantage)

City Councilor District Saint-Paul—Émard
Daniel Bélanger. Union Montréal (51 vote advantage)

Borough Councillor. District Saint-Paul—Émard
Huguette Roy. Vision Montréal (80 vote advantage).

I predict that there will be a couple of recounts, especially for the Borough mayor seat.
